Field note 02 / Product
Is there an AI that will actually manage my fantasy football team?
What Knute does every day, how much it is allowed to do, what it refuses, and what it costs.
The short answer
Is there an AI that will actually manage my fantasy football team?
Yes. Knute is an AI agent that manages a fantasy team on ESPN. Every day it reads injuries and matchups, sets your lineup and works the waiver wire, and it can run your live ESPN snake draft. You choose how much it is allowed to do, per league. It makes the move on your actual team instead of handing you a tip.
A note from the founder
I built Knute to do the work, not describe it.
Every fantasy AI I tried stopped at the recommendation. It would tell me who to start, then leave the tapping, the waiver math and the Sunday-morning scramble to me. Knute is the other thing: an agent that is connected to the league you already play in and is allowed, within limits you set, to act on your team. This note is the plain description of what it does today, what it refuses to do, and what it costs.
01 / Every day
What does Knute do every day?
Knute makes one autonomous pass a day, ahead of the slate. Separately from that pass, there is a chat agent you can ask anything at any time, and it can make a move when you tell it to.
-
01
Lineups
On the daily pass it reads the injury picture, the matchups and your league scoring, then sets the starters on your team before the lock.
-
02
Waivers
FAAB bids and priority claims sized to your roster and your remaining budget. A bid larger than your remaining FAAB is rejected before it reaches ESPN, and Knute can cancel a claim it already submitted.
-
03
Injury pivots
When a starter is out, the replacement goes in on the next daily pass. There is no continuous intraday watch, so a midday scratch waits for the next morning unless you open the chat and ask.
-
04
Chat on demand
Ask about your roster, a matchup or a free agent, or tell it to make a specific move. Every action arrives with the reasoning, the data behind it and the projected gain.
02 / Live drafts
Can Knute draft my ESPN team live?
For supported ESPN fantasy football snake drafts, yes. Knute watches the live room, makes the pick for the connected team and verifies the selection from the room event. Before the draft starts it installs and verifies an ordered fallback queue in ESPN, so a dropped connection does not leave the seat empty.
Its rankings start with projected performance and value over replacement for the league's size, scoring and starting slots, then adjust during the draft for available players, open starter slots, roster depth, position limits, manager rules and tier cliffs. A selected model may reorder only a bounded shortlist the deterministic engine has already approved, and no model call happens on the draft clock. One account can run two independent draft sessions under the standard limit. Auction drafts are not supported by this workflow. The three real 2026 drafts are documented pick by pick.
03 / Autonomy
How much is Knute allowed to do?
You pick one of three levels, per league, and can change it at any time. Every move Knute makes is logged, and the whole thing switches off in one tap.
-
Advisor
It proposes, you approve.
Every move is proposed and nothing happens until you approve it.
-
Co-pilot
Routine moves fire, big calls wait.
Routine lineups, waivers and injury pivots fire automatically. The bigger calls are flagged for you.
-
Autopilot
It runs the team inside your limits.
Knute manages the team within limits you define, including players it is not allowed to drop.
04 / Limits by design
What Knute does not do
Trades. Multi-team transactions are refused at the same gate that permits lineups, adds, drops and waiver claims. There is no configuration in which Knute sends or accepts a trade.
Betting. Knute does not operate bets, wagers, prize contests or a sportsbook, and its recommendations are not gambling, medical, legal or financial advice.
Other platforms and formats. It does not join auction draft rooms, and it does not connect to any fantasy platform other than ESPN. Basketball, hockey and soccer are not built, so I do not describe them.
05 / Availability and cost
Where does Knute work, and what does it cost?
Knute works on ESPN fantasy football and ESPN fantasy baseball today. ESPN is the only platform integration. The iPhone app is available in the U.S. App Store; new accounts sign up with an email address and password and must verify the email.
Ordinary product features are free. Three optional one-time App Store credit packs fund third-party cloud-model usage, and the App Store shows each localized price before purchase. Support is one email address, read by the person who built the product.
To manage your team, Knute stores your ESPN session cookies, encrypted at rest and revocable in the app, along with your synced league data and chat transcripts. With your explicit permission, league, roster and chat content can be processed by third-party cloud models through OpenRouter; the providers are named on the privacy page. ESPN credentials are never included in a prompt, and deleting your account deletes all of it.
